The Prince of Wales Community Music Society exists to encourage students, parents, staff and members of the community to take an active part in the music program at Prince of Wales Secondary School.  The society aids the Prince of Wales Music group in arranging world, national, provincial or local tours.  We solicit and raise funds, apply for grants and accept donations to carry out the objectives of the Society for the benefit of the Prince of Wales Music group.  The PWCMS works to promote, foster and maintain a high quality of music at Prince of Wales Secondary School.

PWCMS is registered under the BC Society Act.

Over two hundred students from Carnarvon, Shaughnessy, Trafalgar and Prince of Wales filled the PW Theatre with sound on February 24th. What wonderful music! Thank you to all who played and attended to listen. Special thanks to the PWCMS parents who donated food and organised, and PW students who hosted. Bravo!

2015 ELEMENTARY TOUR - A big hit with Shaughnessy, Trafalgar and Carnarvon students!

The Vocal Jazz Choir, Senior Band and newly formed Drumline toured three of our feeder elementary schools on Friday January 30. From the audiences accompanying the choir (pineapple, pineapple, apple) to the surprise guest conductors (who were surprised to end up conducting "Happy"), PW students and the audiences alike enjoyed the day's performances.

Vocal Jazz created excitement with their selections from spirituals and 50s doo-wop "Why Do Fools Fall in Love?" to the more recent pop song "Royals"  that brought down the house.

Solos by Josh Cho on trumpet in "Latin Sun" and Jerry Liu on euphonium in "Shenandoah," plus the flute trio in "Shenandoah" highlighted the Band performances. The band opened with the thrilling and spooky "Black Wolf Run," and finished with a full-on dance party to "Happy."  The new drumline performed well in the first two concerts, and flawlessly in their third performance. Bravo!

Fine work by all. Heartfelt thanks to all the parents who helped to deliver the big instruments and percussion from school to school. We couldn't have done this tour without you! What a great day, including the glorious weather!

The Whistler Cantando Music Festival is past, and a good time was had by all. Our Prince of Wales Festival Choir earned a Silver rating. The Choral Adjudicator and Massed Choir Director Scott Liethead described PW as his favourite choir at the Festival! The Festival Concert Band, with members from the Senior, Intermediate and Junior bands, played as a single group for the first time in the warmup room, and earned a Silver rating. This is very good result under the circumstances. The Festival Orchestra and Festival Jazz Band both earned Bronze ratings - good work by all!
